Meeting a pregnant person and their partner is great. I love consultations, because I get to meet new people who are excited and ready for support for just one climax on their road of pregnancy and parenthood.
I usually do a consultation, and if I'm hired, two prenatal appointments; one if its late into a pregnancy. But...I wish we could do more.
Does having two meetings with me give you enough time to feel fully comfortable while in labor? Sure. It totally can. We cover a good deal of information, and in between topics, or during a sidebar, we glean into each others lives, and have a sense for who we each are outside of doula and pregnant couple.
What I'd REALLY love is to see people more than twice. Maybe get coffee and go for a walk on the boardwalk, take a stroll at the park, go to the grocery store and chat while shopping. Meeting out in the real world just to form a better bond. You know?
I think it would be fun to do this. What about you? As a pregnant person, would it appeal to you? Why or why not? I'd love to hear what you think. [:
